How I internalize the music depends on the day, the moment, my mood, my physical condition. I think that we cannot fully absorb music with only our five senses and that as soon as the first notes sound, we embark on a personal journey into a unique internal world. Music can be an immersive experience for both the performer and the listener, even if each has a different perspective. As a member of an orchestra, I thought it would be a shame if I just kept the experiences brought by "living the music in pursuit of the ideal" stored deep within my heart. Every time I hear my seniors reminisce about a past performance, I feel very disappointed that I did not share in that experience. So, I decided to capture and preserve treasured, transitory moments in my photographs. Even if it's a different medium from music, I hope that someday my photographs will connect the viewer to those moments and the emotions I felt at the time. Wilfried Kazuki Hedenborg |
